On the north end of Garrison there is a small gravel area to pull off the highway to access Lake Mille Lacs. The water is sandy and shallow for a long way out which works well for drift launching. This location isn’t as popular as Reddy Creek or Malmo, but it is a great alternative when the wind is mostly out of the east. Also, this is typically the location for the Mille Lacs Kite Crossing in the winter.

Support Local
Need a place to replendish your fluids or stuff your face after a perfect kiting session? We would love if you could support local businesses around the kiteboard launches we frequent. Almost all of our kiteboarding locations in Minnesota are free, so let’s give back to the communities that maintain them! Plus, the locals love seeing some weirdos show up with wind-blown hair.
